The Open – Updated for 13.1

With the release of 13.1 last night, I thought it would be easier to update the existing post and not orphan the comments below about booking times.

The WOD is a 17 minute AMRAP of:

40 Burpees (to a target 6″ beyond your reach)
30 Snatches (75/45)
30 Burpees
30 Snatches (135/75)
20 Burpees
30 Snatches (165/100)
10 Burpees
Snatches (210/120) in the remaining time

Basically a combination of 12.1 (7 minutes of Burpees) and 12.2 (Snatch Ladder) or as Mike C put it only in CrossFit would math like 12.1 +12.2 = 13.1 show up.

There will be a few of us hitting this tonight. It looks like there will be sometime available on Friday afternoon before class with Dave and I might be able to do some as well during the class.

The Saturday class schedule has been posted here … there are four 45 minute sessions for 12 people each. If that fills up or you can’t make it let us know if you need to go Friday or we can make alternate arrangements for Sunday afternoon.

The CrossFit Games Open starts tomorrow night with the announcement of WOD 13.1. In addition to the 31 people registered on the team (and climbing), everyone will get a chance to do the Open on Saturdays.

There will be a Certified Judge on site to Validate scores, but they may not be judging you personally. Saturdays will run much like it did this past Saturday with folks judging each other to ensure attaining standards.

PEI Taekwondo is hosting the Taekwondo Provincials this weekend so Saturday will be a little different. All of the adult classes running downtown (49 Pownal) starting at 8:00 am. You will need to sign up for these sessions so please check the online schedule starting Thursday as we will post the sessions based on the time required by the workout after it is posted. The Teens class will continue to be uptown at Enman Crescent but will run from 9:00 am to 9:40 am.

Standards will be reviewed at beginning of class and there will a link on our website linking to the ‘Games’ site where more details can be obtained in advance. If you a Registered Open Competitor familiarize yourself with the Standards in advance of the class. The Trainer running the class is there for the group not for personalized games programming, coaching, judging, etc…

If you are a serious Open competitor with Regionals or Games goals ensure you contact a Judge in advance of the class if possible, and arrange when you are going to get together. If you can’t make Saturdays there may be some time available before the class on Friday (please post to comments if this is something that you would like to do). If you are wanting to have a Certified Judge to judge you at that time or an alternate time you should be offering the Judge 10$ for their time.

  1. I’m unable to do 13.1 this Saturday, so I would very much appreciate a judge for Friday. Thanks!

    • If gym is open on Sun, I will do it then. Jaymee will judge me. Mike, what time will gym be open?

  2. Hello I am away in Amherst at a gym comp this weekend and then next week in Cuba… I’m hoping to do the WOD Thursday night or Friday morning if someone is available. I completely understand if it does not work with the gym schedule. Good luck everyone! Thank you :)

  3. I just signed up this morning! I will be away Saturday so I would also like to do the WOD on Thursday p.m. or Friday a.m. if someone is available.

    • Hey Ellen, we should be able to squeeze you in then. Would you be able to come in before class?

    • Thanks for the offer,Mike but I can’t make it in that early tomorrow. I will have to try for a Friday class. Can’t wait to hit the burpees :(

      • We might be able to do it during the class Ellen … it will depend on judge availability.

  4. I finally buckled under peer pressure and signed up. Fingers crossed for no double unders or burpees!

    • That’s awesome Paul. Mike C can help you with the one-legged burpees ;)

  5. omg.

    17 minute amrap
    40 burpees
    30 snathes at 75
    30 burpees
    30 snatches at 135
    20 burpees
    30 snatches at 165
    10 burpees
    snatches at 210

  6. Yikes …

  7. I am in Labrador until Saturday night. Is there someone that can judge for me some time on Sunday afternoon?

    • Hey Greg, a few of use will be going in Sunday afternoon. Shoot me an email.

  8. I signed up for the 9:30 Saturday class, but I am not registered – if anyone who is competing needs the space and it fills up, just let me know and you can have mine.

    • Same here. What she said.

    • I signed up for the 8:00 Saturday class, but I am not registered – if anyone who is competing needs the space and it fills up, just let me know and you can have mine.

  9. 13.1 is making the 7 minutes of burpees from last year look like a good time…

  10. I’m targeting 105 pts.

    We’ll see how that goes…

    • 101 is the lofty goal for this little fella. Gonna need a big snatch PR for that one.

      • …assuming round one doesnt kill me first :-)

        • yeah… i’ve been thinking about that. I’m thinking 10 burpees, 10 second break… 10 snatches 20 second break.

          got plans?

          • Ideally….

            Burpees in 10s
            snatches in 5s

            Burpees in 10s
            Snatches in singles

The issue is gonna be sticking to it and managing rest. I dont think Ive hit a wod with more than 25 burpees in a single round. So they could and likely will suck exceptionally harder than I want, earlier than I’d like.

  11. I’m not registered for the Open, but am registered for 9:30 a.m. Saturday…let me know if you need my space.

  12. I’ve been busy and unable to really attend class but can start coming back more now…what is going on? Is there normal class on Friday or Saturday – sign up online if I want to go to basic class Saturday if there are spots – did I get that right? And Friday is just normal?

Thanks – sorry, confused and catching up!

  13. I am not registered and if someone needs my time, please let me know, thanks.

  14. I cannot make the Saturday classes (MBA from 8-5pm)

I am registered for the open – (realistically) looking to join the 100 rep threshold with Adam / Dave C

  15. Today’s post on “Jumping The Weight” is very pertinent for 13.1. Getting into round 2 of the snatches is very difficult w/out the jump
