Warm-up?

Why do we warmup?

* to loosen up the tissues (joints, muscles and connective tissue)
* raise the heart rate
* increase range of motion
* hopefully decrease the chance of injury
* WORK ON OUR GOATS

There are lots of good reasons to warmup, those listed are but a few, add any you can think of too. Its been three weeks we’ve been doing the “Russian Gymnastics Warm-up”, its a fairly challenging warmup that is good at hitting most folks Goats somewhere along the way. Folks were really good at doing this initially but lately very few have been doing it with gusto. Sure its long, sure its the repetitive seeing Day 1 or Day 2, sure its tough, but isn’t that the point! If you can zoom through it easily, if all exercises are a breeze for you well guess what, you’ve improved your capacity which is what we’re trying to do.

Frog Stand or Tripods – help get people comfortable with being inverted for HandStands, developing strength and balance.

OverHead Squats – well this is the king of the squats, its shows your weakness somewhere whether its not getting into your posterior chain, a weak overhead press position, lack of core strength or limited flexibility in the shoulder, thoracic spine or the hips

Dead Hand Pullups – great for strength development and shoulder range of motion

Kips – help kipping coordination, shoulder ROM and core strength under stretch

Kick to HandStand – comfort in going inverted and mid-line stabilization

You may not be able to get through the whole thing in this warmup, but hit your weak area, today focus on the Tuck L-Holds in the rings, working core strength and scapular stabilization
